Nika Horjak Ceramics, at Goriška ulica 2 in old-town Piran, is a souvenir and gift shop that is also a working pottery studio. Every plate, vase, fish platter and citrus reamer is made by hand on site, in ten glazes named after the places of the town. Small pieces start at a few euros, and you can usually watch the next batch being made while you browse.

A working pottery studio and souvenir shop in one. Everything on the shelves, plates, vases, fish platters, soap dishes, citrus reamers and small pieces, is made by hand on site by Nika Horjak, in ten glazes named after places around the town. Nothing is imported or factory-made.

What can you buy, and from what price?

Small handmade pieces start at around €5. Signature pieces like the hand-pointed citrus reamer and the fish platters range from €26 to €106, and matched sets make ready-made gifts. Cards and cash are both accepted, in euros.

How do you find the shop in Piran?

From Tartini Square, walk toward the marina; the shop is a few steps up from the water on Goriška ulica 2, a couple of minutes on foot. Google Maps knows “Nika Horjak Ceramics” and guides you to the door.

Can you watch the ceramics being made?

Yes. The wheel runs most days and visitors are welcome to watch and ask questions. Nika speaks Slovenian, English, German, Croatian and Italian.
